Personal Statement/Background

I'm a professional and accomplished bluegrass banjo player with over 30 years experience playing, 25 years teaching, both in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been a part of the Los Angeles bluegrass scene since the late '70s and have played in numerous bands in Southern California, bluegrass and otherwise. I love playing and especially love teaching!

I teach privately out of my home in beautiful downtown Burbank, CA. I've been teaching bluegrass banjo (also known as Scruggs style) since the early '80s. Having played bluegrass professionally for the past 3 decades, I'm fairly conversant with the music.

I teach all levels and all ages. Beginners and general musical neophytes are particularly welcome. I'm a patient, dedicated and, above all, a FUN teacher. I always try to make every lesson as comfortable and enjoyable for the student as possible. Of course, I will make you work, too.

I charge $50 per 1-hour lesson. I'm also currently running a special deal where students can pay $200 upfront for a package of 5 lessons, amounting to $40 per lesson.
