New Information for Teachers

We at www.findmymusicteacher.com would like to take this opportunity to address a few issues, questions and concerns that have been voiced by some of the site users.

If you have completed your profile, make sure you add a picture! This will help us promote you and direct more traffic to the site. We live in a visual world, and as the old cliche goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. When selecting a picture, it's best to have one that includes your instrument. Also keep in mind that pictures will be reduced to 100x100 pixels in size.

Several teachers have reported various difficulties with their accounts, such as not receiving the activation email, or having the password not grant access. As of yet we have not been able to diagnose the cause of these problems, but should you be experiencing any difficulties, let us know and we can still fix the problem. We can reset your password (as per the site's privacy policy, no admins will ever know you password, they just have the ability to reset it should the need arise, after which you can reset it again), or in some cases delete your profile so you can create a new one. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Also, from time to time we have experienced internet scammers on this site. We have attempted to stop this by requiring a verification process for students who are signing up, but it is still possible for scammers to set up accounts. We have thus far been pretty quick in finding and deleting their accounts, and ask anyone who receives a suspicious email to alert us immediately. Scam emails often take the form of a person claiming to have a child or other relative studying in the U.S. for a limited time. The emailer will "want to know the cost of tuition" or something for that effect. Often times, very few specifics (instrument, style of music, etc) will be mentioned in the email. If you get any such email, bring it to our attention.
